Having eaten some dodgy mayonnaise (self-diagnosis) and dealt with the dog puncturing a five-stitch hole in his armpit, we got underway and my mum came down for a visit. I never get to see my mum, so this was brilliant. The mini movie marathon was wicked, too. I love getting DVDs, and yesterday saw some gaping holes in my collection filled. Maybe I need to make a new-years resolution to not be such a grumpy bastard about my birthday and allow myself to get excited like child about it next year.

With drinking and sick dogs and birthdays and hipstamatic in mind, have some photos of the last couple of days. Flickr Uploadr really fucked me on the ordering of these in my stream. First world problems, yo.

Last night we watched the Last ever Nicholas Cage movie I’ll ever see. I’m so sick of wasting my life on that guy’s movies. People always recommend them to me, claiming that this one is different, and I’ll love it even though I hate him, but they’re always wrong. Please, no-one recommend me any more movies starring Nicholas Cage; you’re likely to get ranted at.

Being as I have an awesome new distraction, Charlotte and I decided to break out the cool new Penultimate app and do some sketches inspired by the movie (interwoven with pure id). I can’t draw with a pen, let alone my finger, so most are shit but it’s an esoteric look into how we experienced the movie “Knowing”.

Just got back from seeing Up. Greatest animated movie I’ve ever seen. Bar none. I have no idea how Pixar always excel themselves, but they do. They’re just the most amazing, cute, imaginative, heart-warming movies I think you could want. Screw Dreamworks and their lame-ass tripe. Pixar til I die (hardcore’s overrated).

Oddly, though – these glasses fit my double-wide head perfectly. These kids don’t stand a chance.

The original being so open to interpretation, and that you could make any interpretation work are why you can’t just give some hack free reign to do whatever he wants with it!

As much as it may tempt you, seriously don’t be taken in by S. Darko. It’s a waste of your life that you don’t have the commodity of time travel to undo.

Getting post is great; except for when it’s bills. It’s nearly always bills, or some fucker claiming you owe them money, or inviting you to be in a free prize draw, or a takeaway menu. It’s never good stuff, unless you’re expecting it.

What I like about Lovefilm is it’s a benevolent little package that lands on your doormat that isn’t a bank statement or council tax. It’s an hour or two of enjoyment, that you didn’t have to go and get. It’s the modern-day equivalent of a stork (or something).

I haven’t used my camera in ages. There is no excuse.

I can’t imagine anything worse than being Joel. Both needing to remove someone from his life, and desperately regretting starting that ball rolling. I guess that’s another purpose of this film; to remind you that the crappy memories are just as worth keeping as the great ones.

It’s amazing how much you can miss someone, just by imagining that they’re gone.

Let me tell you right now, clipping the claws of rabbits is a painful business. That having been said, they’ve been so good tonight. I don’t know whether they’re grateful or whether they just don’t want us to be mean to them again. Either way, it’s been nice. Rabbits are awesome pets.

I entered one of my photos in an arbitrary forum-based photography competition. The theme fit so well with what I’ve been doing this week, I couldn’t not enter. I don’t care about or expect to do well, but who knows – some validation is always nice. It could, however, go either way!

On a totally unrelated note, the film 25th Hour is very good, if you watch it, don’t be surprised if the end makes you feel like you wasted 2 hours.
