Charlotte makes excellent food. I try to take photos. I am crap at taking photos of food, and it’s something I want to get better at. So many people on Instagram take these excellent, effortless photos of food and I consider it unfair.

A little outtake, which I thought had a certain charm. Or an indication of a lack of awareness of the Live View feature on a camera. Plus, yellow socks. I love them.

First Proper Meal

We’ve been having our kitchen re-fitted for the last two weeks, which has meant takeaway pretty much every night. It has lead me to the conclusion that takeaway should only be an occasional thing. It is not nice food to eat regularly, let me tell you.

Instagram

I’m not really a huge fan of fake filters and silly borders. If your photo isn’t nice to look at, a filter is only going to do so much. A border is going to make it worse. I don’t care for borders.

Yet, for some reason, I have become enamoured with Instagram this week. I feel encouraged to take a nice shot with a filter in mind, and you don’t have to use borders. Sharing and exploring are incredibly easy. The whole experience is just fun.

I don’t take back all I’ve ever said about Instagram – most of the photos I see come out of it are horrible, but there are some people on there producing amazing photographs, which I really enjoy looking at. Definitely a keeper for snappy iPhone photos, I think.

Hey, Hot Shot

Remember that scene in Hot Shots! Part Deux at the start where Charlie Sheen is going to bare-knuckle fight that guy in some warehouse or wherever? And before they start fighting they dip their hands in sweets? That’s what my lunch today reminded me of.

It’s important to bear in mind that sometimes I just like wandering round taking photos of whatever. With the 50mm 1.8 on the D700 is a lovely, light (it is, shut up) camera. These hopefully won’t be the best photos I take all week, but they’ll be amongst the most fun I had holding a camera, for sure.

Also, fuck you I know my lawn is a mess. I hate gardening.

Here’s the deal. If you say you’re going to allow yourself a lie-in, you’ll be up at 6am. Wide awake. So that’s what I do on weekends now. I’m pretty easy to trick like that.

I made this thing. It’s a Facebooks page for this here website. A friend brought it to my attention that RSS is too nerdy for some people, but Facebooks is OK. So I guess I’ll use that to syndicate this for people on the Facebooks. If you like what I’m doing here, it sure would make me happy if you liked me officially. Eagle

We’re always going into The Eagle when I hit Brighton. It’s probably one of my favourite pubs; great staff, food and drink. Has the interior of a classic pub, too.

Seeing any dog whilst I’m away makes me sad. These two little buggers were hilarious, though.
